Adrienne Bailon was harassed early in her career!
The presenter told her co-hosts on The Real about her experiences as a young woman in the entertainment industry.
“I even experienced an executive that would kiss me on the lips,” Adrianne recalled. “It consistently happened to the point where I was like, ‘This ain’t cool, man. Now he knows I’m not going to say anything.’ Which is not okay.”
“To be honest, I thought it was an accident,” she explains of how it happened more than once.
Adrienne says she’s learned a lot from the incident and it would never go unchecked now: “Obviously that happened then, I would never allow that to happen now.”
She has an idea of why women don’t come forward. “A lot of women are in fear,” says Adrienne. “And you ask yourself, well why do they let them get away with it? Fear has a big part to do with it. And two, these men are usually famous. Because you’re famous, you can get away with it.”
Below is video of Adrienne talking about being sexually harassed.
In the video she calls it harassment as she recalls receiving unwanted attention as a young woman in the music industry. However, she also describes unwanted physical attention such as repeated kissing on the lips without consent. Which could be interpreted as repeated assault.
But here she is describing the incident in her own words.
