Benedict Cumberbatch has said of celebrity friend George Clooney that the actor isn’t as good looking in person. Moreover, adds Benedict, George isn’t in great shape in person either (at least, that seems to be what he’s hinting at). Or at least his skin isn’t in great shape.
Asked about the terrifying legion of fans who call themselves Cumberb**ches (the actor prefers “Cumberpeople” as the former includes a gendered slur and “sets feminism back so many notches”), he says “How weird is my life? Here I am talking about my own attractiveness.”
“I think making other people feel smart and good about themselves is pretty sexy,’’ he continues of what makes someone attractive. “I wouldn’t say I was classically good looking either. I don’t know who is. George Clooney I suppose… But you could probably pick fault. I mean, I have seen the man up close and trust me his skin is not that good. And he’s kind of squidgy.”
In his interview with News.com.au, it’s noted that his “alarmed publicist starts waving her arms to signal to her wayward charge that he is venturing into dangerous territory.” So… Benedict quickly moves on. “[George is] a friend of mine. Am I not allowed to do that?” he quips.
Benedict adds of having children one day with fiancee Sophie Hunter, “I have always been very broody… I can’t wait to have children… I am really excited about that — someday.’’ And asked about his Oscar chances for The Imitation Game, he dryly replies “I am the worst person to ask about that.”
