“Producers are shocked at how boring she is,” said a production insider. “They wanted that amazing girl who was on the first few seasons, but she doesn’t exist anymore.” She “has been warned” if she doesn’t become more interesting to watch she won’t be invited back for another season.
The source admitted, “After her ugly divorce, talk show flop and her business empire falling apart, she is now very guarded.” Bethenny has been called out by other producers for failing to bring the drama. And sources close to the star do admit her empire isn’t what it used to be and the brand is distancing itself from the star.
When Bethenny appeared on The Meredith Vieira Show, the reality star was called out for lying when asked directly in 2014 whether she intended to return to the Housewives.
Meredith said “I just want to set this up properly. Last October I welcomed you into my home because I love you. Very nice… I asked if you’d be returning to The Real Housewives of New York.” Then Meredith played a clip in which Bethenny insisted there was no deal on the table with Bravo. Meredith continued “Two weeks later… two weeks later you announce, ‘Oh, I’m back on the show.’ Why would you lie to me?”
Bethenny insisted there was a good reason for the deceit, “Did I say I have no deal to go back on Bravo, did I say that? I was not lying. No, this is truth. I had no deal to go back on Bravo and you know Meredith Vieira, with your own talk show, that if you don’t have a deal and it’s not signed the deal can fall through at anytime.”
Meredith acted annoyed and Bethenny continued, “I did say I am talking to Andy Cohen about a couple of different projects and I was talking about that one and I was talking to him about another one. I would not lie and by the way, speaking of liars, last time you told me you were drinking vodka with me and you were drinking water so I poured these myself, this is wine. Happy New Year.”
