More information has been released about Cameron Diaz’s wedding to Benji Madden and whether the couple ended up with a prenup.
Her wedding toast to her husband has been leaked. In it, Cameron, 42, says she waited for so long and kissed so many frogs because she wanted to find her prince, Benji, 35. The couple dated for seven months before quickly becoming engaged and married. They announced and confirmed neither event.
“I waited because I didn’t want to settle,” Cameron told the 127 guests at her wedding on Monday night. The ceremony took place in Cameron’s expansive backyard. News of the ceremony leaked to the media immediately beforehand when flowers and other decorations were delivered to Cameron’s house in plain sight. She continued in her toast, “Now I got the best man ever. My special man. He’s mine.”
Benji retorted, ‘I only asked to be in control of two things: The music and the cake.”
During the ceremony, the decorative lights went out for 10 seconds and flickered. The bride, before making her entrance could be heard saying “S***, f***, this is f***ed up. You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me!”
Another hiccup, Cameron’s new nephew, Sparrow Madden, Joel Madden’s son with Nicole Richie, dropped the rings. “He dropped the ring and it rolled around. The audience began to chuckle,” said a source. “But as both brothers – groom Benji and best man Joel – got on their hands and knees looking for it, the guests broke out into full laughter.”
Nicole’s adoptive father, Lionel Richie, performed at the wedding. Guests reportedly included Christina Applegate, Wiz Khalifa, Jared Leto’s mother Constance Leto (Cameron and Jared dated), Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, bridesmaid Drew Barrymore, Samantha Ronson, Toni Collette, Nancy Juvonen, Judd Apatow, and Leslie Mann.
Back in October, it was reported that Cameron was so in love she didn’t want a prenup. “It’s totally insane, but Cameron’s so crazy in love right now no one can get through to her,” a source told the National Enquirer. “Even Benji thinks they should have an agreement. But lovestruck Cameron can’t think of anything less romantic than signing a legal document outlining the terms of a divorce.”
Shortly after the engagement was announced, Life & Style claimed they’d decided to go for a prenup after all but they were arguing over it. “At stake is Cameron’s $90 million fortune,” to Benji’s $20 million. “Benji’s pride is hurt… Haggling back and forth over money only highlights how much more successful Cam is. He’s worried that signing a prenup will shift the dynamic in their relationship.”
