Teen Mom OG’s Catelynn Lowell has opened up about her relationship with her eldest daughter Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis.
Carly, 5, is the adoptive daughter of Brandon and Teresa of North Carolina. In the past, Catelynn and her fiance, Tyler Baltierra, have complained that they should have more say in Carly’s upbringing. Specifically, Catelynn and Tyler continue to share photos of Carly on social media after being banned from doing so by Brandon and Teresa.
On a recent episode of Teen Mom OG, Catelynn warned Tyler that his plan to upload an album of private images to a public Teen Mom fan page was a bad idea that would certainly backfire. That it would make Brandon and Teresa mad because they want Carly to be a normal child not a celebrity. Catelynn even warned Brandon and Teresa might revoke access to Carly if they get really upset or concerned for her wellbeing.
“I don’t care if the world can’t see her. I get to, my family gets to, that’s all that matters,” Catelynn explained during the episode. “Why jeopardize that over something small?”
Tyler uploaded the photos anyway and they got a stern phone call about it from the couple.
Around the same time, there was tabloid speculation that Brandon and Teresa HAD threatened to end Catelynn and Tyler’s contact with Carly. However, Catelynn said it had all calmed down and they’re all communicating much better now.
“We’re trying to be open and honest with each other,” Catelynn tells OK! Magazine (via RadarOnline). “But adoption is a work in progress all the time.”
She explains, “It’s going to be smooth for a while, then you’re going to hit a bump and try to work through that, especially with Carly getting older.”
Catelynn wants Carly to meet her younger sister, Novalee: “I mean it’s still a little nerve-wracking, but it definitely will happen!”
