Catelynn Lowell has opened up about Teen Mom: OG co-star Farrah Abraham’s return, her own newborn baby girl Nova Reign, her upcoming wedding to fiance Tyler Baltierra, and what it’s like being filmed for MTV.
Asked how she feels about Farrah’s dramatic return to Teen Mom: OG, after initially being excluded from production because of her behaviour, Catelynn insists: “The whole thing is — we had a feeling that Farrah was going to come back, and me and [my fianceé] Tyler weren’t really all that affected by it. As long as she’s doing what she needs to do, we’re going to do what we want to do. She has her life, we have our own life — it doesn’t matter. Bring it on.”
Catelynn continues of co-star Maci Bookout threatening to leave the show because of Farrah, “I can’t speak for them, but they were worried about Farrah and her business endeavors.” Meaning Farrah’s post-16 & Pregnant career in adult entertainment including movies, toys, books and dancing.
Catelynn, who gave birth again in the New Year, added: “The main concern was we didn’t want young girls feeling like they need to do those types of things.” The cast have been insisting for months that Farrah’s personal morals conflict with those of the rest of the girls.
“At the end of the day,” continues Catelynn, “I’m the type of person who’s not going to judge people, as long as you’re happy and you’re doing what you want to do. I always tell people, Farrah’s a great mom. She looks out for Sophia, and she’s determined and motivated by things that she wants to do, and that’s something that she can teach people: You can do things that you want to do no matter what’s standing in front of you.”
She adds of learning from one’s past: “The way I look at it is, things aren’t a mistake if you’re bettering yourself from the things you thought were mistakes.”
Asked about being famous, Catelynn insisted, “I don’t use the F-word… I just don’t like the F-word. I don’t consider myself famous. I’m a very humble person, I put my life out there to help others and I don’t want to be famous. I just don’t like it.”
Although, being on television has made it hard to make friends, “It’s hard for me to trust some people. But all the people I was friends with growing up are still my friends and I still live in my same hometown and we’re just normal people. When I go out we get people who recognize us, but when they meet me they’re like, ‘Oh my god, you are just so nice, you’re just like how you are on TV.’ [I’m] a relatable and laid-back person.”
Lastly, Catelynn talked about her upcoming wedding: “[The wedding is] August 22, so it’s getting closer… I’m hoping [it’s going to be on television], but I have no clue.” Nova, born over the New Year “…is going to be a flower girl. We’re building this little white carriage and Tyler’s niece will pull her down the aisle, since she won’t be able to walk yet.”
The Teen Mom adds of what fans can expect this season, “You see a lot of me navigating my adoption now that Carly is older and [I’m] having a baby, and our fears of how that might change our relationship with [Carly and her adoptive parents]. And us preparing for Nova [who was born January 1] and how that’s looking.”
