Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra have reacted to their firstborn child’s adoptive parents denying visitation.
In a new clip from the show, the Teen Mom stars learn they have been denied visitation of Carly (the daughter they put up for adoption in 2009 when they were teenagers).
Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, ignore the couple’s request for a visit. Catelynn and Tyler explain their concerns to their adoption counsellor, Dawn.
Dawn reads: “You said no to ongoing face-to-face. You could request visits with the adoptive family in the future to be initiated by Cate and Tyler, which is what you have been doing. At the discretion of the adoptive family as they determine what is in the best interest of Carly.”
Catelynn asks: “Are we done having visits with Carly forever? Until she’s 18 I’ll hear nothing from her? It is f*****g frustrating because I was 16 years old when I made this decision.”
Tyler has reacted to the clip. He tweeted a fan: “They will always be justified because they are her parents and we are not,” he wrote.
Previously, Tyler has insisted he would rather lose visitation than stop sharing photos of Carly or talking about her on the show.
Tyler explains further: “We do have an open adoption. They are just making decisions that they think are the best for Carly. Which is exactly what they should do.”
A fan pointed out that Catelynn and Tyler are not a good example of an open adoption. Tyler replied: “We are definitely NOT the best example, I agree.”
