The show aimed to make stars of the Artiagas of Beaumont, Calif., in only 12 weeks. The family were apparently picked for their similarity to the Kardashians (there are three daughters, a momager, and a stepfather). However, so few people watched the show that it was pulled from the CW schedule in only five weeks.
The television she was a social experiment starring Angie Artiaga, Jameelah Artiaga, Maariyah Artiaga, Taliah Artiaga and Mike Artiaga, aiming to make the family “Famous in 12” weeks. The show was slated to run the full 12 weeks while documenting the family’s success and popularity on social media.
They were coached at the end of each week and producer Harvey Levin critiqued their publicity stunts by how many column inches, tweets etc. were generated by their antics. Purportedly, the family hoped to parlay the notoriety into credible careers.
However, one of the girls got attention by talking to Kim Kardashian’s retinue about her tape and walking down the street unclothed with cam photos in hopes of landing a PETA campaign. Another claimed to want to model in her late 20s and the other sister wanted to gain a singing career by working with the producer of Rebecca Black’s Friday song.
The social media response was largely apathetic at best. So on episode five, Harvey drops the bombshell, the show has been cancelled seven weeks early.
