Amber Portwood won a custody battle against Gary Shirley.
The Teen Mom reality star has been awarded shared (50/50) custody of her daughter, Leah Shirley.
Previously Gary had primary custody of his eldest daughter, Leah, 6.
Amber had legal troubles and substance abuse issues. She went to prison to overcome her problems. Years later she is engaged (to a 44-year-old father of seven, Matt Baier, who is a grandfather with his own substance issues).
Amber claims her home is as stable as Gary’s. So she should share custody after years of rehabilitating herself and staying clean.
In the teaser for the new season Amber sobs “I shouldn’t have to go through a custody battle for my kid!”
According to a new report Gary and Amber will share custody 50/50 going forward (a change from Gary having primary custody).
“Amber and Gary finally worked everything out with their lawyers two weeks ago,” explained a source. “They’re both happy.”
