Frank Cicha, senior VP and president of programming for the FOX Television Stations spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about the eponymous show and why it’s no longer on the air.
“I think [Kris] was pretty uninteresting [on camera],” Cicha said.
He admitted that FOX were too eager in giving Kris the show and only hoped to trade on her fame. Adding, “That was one where [sister company] 20th Television tried to capitalize on a name.”
Worst of all, much like criticism of her daughters Khloe co-hosting on the X Factor USA and Kendall Jenner presenting an award at the Billboards, “When the camera was on [Kris] looked not just like a deer in the headlights, but like a deer that already got hit.” He adds, she became more comfortable in her role as the days went on.
“It wasn’t a disaster in the ratings,” said Cicha, adding that it would have been expensive to produce and didn’t fit the rest of the schedule. Aside from the finale with now-son-in-law Kanye West, and North’s photo reveal, the ratings were underwhelming and FOX got hate mail. “When you added it up, it wasn’t a show that made sense for us.”
He also praised Kris’ work ethic, said she was never a diva, and was pleased with the amount of press she did.
Previously, Kris admitted, “It went in with such high expectations that we had no chance.”
