Another day another reboot. This time there will be a modern day version of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
The original version aired from 1990-1996 and starred Will Smith. The new version will be set in the modern day and Will Smith will be a producer for the project. According to sources it’s in its “very early” stages of production.
TVLine reports that Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment will produce the project. The general storyline will be “a present-day Fresh Prince reboot that puts a new spin on the fish-out-of-water tale while maintaining the spirit of the original series.” An official synopsis and pitch have not been shared yet.
Once it’s ready Will’s “Overbrook [production company] will begin shopping it around in the coming weeks”.
TVLine adds “Smith would serve as an EP alongside his Overbrook producing partners James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Jada Pinkett-Smith.”
