… specifically, that’s Porsha Williams, presumably the other Bravo Housewives, and every reality star except the Kardashians.
According to stylist Phillip Bloch (photographed below in the cap and blue leather jacket) the people responsible for press and for seating at the New York Fashion Week shows ban lower-tier stars like reality stars from sitting in the front row. The front being the most prestigious. For example, it made headlines when Anna Wintour and Justin Bieber sat in the second row for fashion shows.
Phillip says publicists and showrunners are protective of the front row. “They’re giving reality girls a hard time. They really just want the young, ingénue-y girls; you may not even know their names.”
Phillip named Porsha Williams as a girl facing fashion snobbery, and admitted “I have heard quite a few names. They gave people a hard time about seats . . . There’s a weird push-me, pull-you feel to it. Yet you bring somebody and everybody is taking pictures. It’s good for the audience, it’s good for the energy.”
Incidentally, Porsha and Phillip sat front row at Alice + Olivia and Vivienne Tam so there was at least one show that let Porsha sit in front.
Previously, Kanye West admitted that his fashion industry friends all turned their backs on him as soon as he started dating Kim Kardashian. He’d worked for years, made connections, and gained a little traction in the fashion world. However, as soon as he and Kim hooked up his “friends” all dumped him. He told Style.com, “…fashion people were really opposed to the idea of reality stars. And all the relationships, the somewhat friends that I had somewhat built up, completely turned their backs on her and me. They already had their back to her, and now they turned it to me.”
