More bad news, Iggy Azalea fans! The Great Escape 2015 tour has officially been cancelled.
Her rep issued a statement, below, confirming that the tour was done in its present form. They cancelled the fall dates. However, it sounds like the show may be retooled and brought back next year instead:
The Iggy Azalea Great Escape Tour scheduled for this fall has been cancelled and refunds are available at point of purchase.
There will be a new tour planned around Iggy‘s new record to be released in 2016 and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Fans probably won’t be surprised by today’s announcement. This is sort of a cancellation… but it’s effectively the SECOND time it’s been postponed due to backstage drama!
Previously, the tour was pushed back to September. The supporting acts at the time, Tinashe and Nick Jonas, backed away from the tour and the negative publicity. Insisting they would not appear at any rescheduled dates.
Moreover, sources claimed that it was Iggy’s fault for the negative publicity back in March.
Iggy was allegedly “unresponsive to her management and refused to engage in promotion”. Basically, she ignored her own managers and refused to promote the tour at all.
Meaning they could not co-ordinate it nor do any marketing. The source added at the time, Iggy had “become disengaged from her core team… and [would] not commit to [crucial] press opportunities.”
UPDATE: Iggy also issued a statement on Twitter.
As u may know, the tour is cancelled. I'm so sad and sorry to let my fans down…we'll be back out on the road when the next album is done.
