Queen of Versailles star Victoria Siegel passed away recently at the age of 18. Since she died, last weekend, it has been revealed that she struggled with addiction to prescription pills and had recently left rehab. She was buried this week. And her mother, Jackie, made headlines, for another reason. Jackie was photographed at the funeral doing a few things that made some people question her judgement.
The other kids, Victoria’s siblings, were smiling for paparazzi and making peace signs at fans. Their mother, Jackie, was smiling, texting, and, it appeared, taking selfies. Moreover, what really made some fans angry, was Jackie taking photos of her daughter’s casket. Which angered people who felt she was too busy taking snaps and posing, and paying no attention to her late daughter.
In response to the uproar, after the photos went viral and got a negative response, the family spokesperson, Michael Marder, issued a statement:
“People deal with grief differently. Mrs. Siegel is grieving as we all are. I have been with the family starting from the very first moment they learned of Victoria’s death and I can tell you that she has cried … a lot …and has been on an emotional roller[coaster].
There is no authoritative manual that tells us how to grieve.
The entire family has been sleeping together in the large family room of the house since this horrible tragedy happened. They are talking together, crying together and caring for and loving each other.
The family has been through a terrible tragedy and had been hurt enough and the way Mrs Siegel is being portrayed by some in the media is just adding additional pain not only to her but the entire family.”
