Jake Gyllenhaal is promoting his new movie, Southpaw, in which he gains back all the bulk he lost for Nightcrawler (and then some). In a movie that’s been dubbed “Oscar bait”, and very Christian Bale. Jake insists, after claims he used steroids to gain muscle, he did 2,000 crunches daily and worked out 6 hours per day for Southpaw.
In his interview with The Ellen Show, Jake has some fun and talks about being a momma’s boy who introduces dates to his mother early. Moreover, he’d almost rather his mother pick the dates in the first place.
He also talks about doing three nights in Little Shop of Horrors, which Ellen uses to segue into Jake’s long-forgotten boy band past (so long ago he can’t really remember whether he wrote any of the songs, nor the genre, although he eventually settles on “rock”).
Ellen has the single cover, which has been floating around on Twitter for at least a year. One fan page claims, “Jake Gyllenhaal and his band ‘Holeshot’. He got kicked out for dating the drummer’s girlfriend LOL”.

It shows a teenage Jake and friends in a band called “Holeshot”… he has no idea where that name came from either!
