According to a new report, producers of Kourtney & Khloe Take The Hamptons lied to secure their clients Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian a location.
They had previously been denied the right to film in their desired locations, in part because of concerns from locals, but also because the girls announced plans to open a pop-up shop which is not in keeping with businesses in the area. They eventually won the local mayor over, though, by lying and saying they were no longer planning on having a store opening.
Southampton Village’s mayor Mark Epley said recently, “The Kardashian producers told me they weren’t opening a store in Southampton, then 12 hours later they announced the store’s location. I called them and said, ‘You lied to me.’ They have got off on the wrong foot.”
Previously, it was reported that the girls had arranged for free rent in exchange for giving the location publicity. Local business woman Irma Herzog agreed to let Kourtney and Khloe use a 600-foot venue rent-free if they also agreed to film inside her adjacent business, a restaurant called The Driver’s Seat.
A source told The NY Daily News, “They didn’t want to pay the $30,000 to $60,000 rent charged at most Hamptons stores, so they agreed to shoot episodes of the show in the restaurant.”
