“She doesn’t want to be associated with them anymore,” a source told InTouch Weekly magazine. She’s “worried that her connection to her half sisters’ ubiquitous last name is damaging her fashion career.”
However, “Kris stands to make a ton of money off Kendall being the next Kim,” added the source of Kendall’s controlling momager, Kris Jenner. “And she plans to do whatever it takes to keep her as part of the Kardashian clan.”
In a recent interview with LOVE Magazine, Kendall admitted “I was like, ‘You know what?’ I want to be high fashion. I want to be taken seriously… People think that this [success] just came to me. But it didn’t. What I have has almost worked against me.”
She said of the family name and fame, “I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn’t take me seriously as a model. Because of the TV show.” Adding, “I went on castings and some people weren’t feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn’t recognize me. I was like, ‘Thank you. Please don’t recognize me.’”
Kim told LOVE “She had to work extra hard to gain this respect and to fight for people to see she’s serious. Marc Jacobs gave her a real shot and treated her like any other model… Then Riccardo [Tisci] and Karl [Lagerfeld] gave her a chance and she has proven that she is the real deal.”
Kendall shared the LOVE cover on Instagram, captioned “andddd my COVER of LOVE is finally here!! #DavidSims @kegrand @thelovemagazine”.
Kim also shared the photo to Instagram, in a makeup-free photo, captioned “LOVE @kendalljenner on the cover of LOVE @kegrand”.
Previously, the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper reported that “She has been advised by friends in the fashion industry that reality TV could damage her modeling career.”
The source added of Kendall pulling out of the planned Kendall & Kylie spinoff shows, “Kendall had the option to pull out of any other potential shows and that’s exactly what she’s done.”
