She exaggerated to make a point about her finances.
Previously, Kylie Jenner told InStyle that she was financially independent at 17. Clarifying that she had no choice because mother/manager, Kris Jenner, “cut me off”.
Kylie told fans she had been paying for “everything” since she was 14-years-old. “My mom cut me off financially three years ago,” Kylie, 17, recalled. “So I pay for everything—my car, my gas and food as well as my clothes.”
Except, sources tell E! News (who produce and broadcast the family TV show) that isn’t quite accurate.
Her parents, Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, paid for food and laundry (Kylie admitting not knowing how to do any household chores including laundry). Kylie paid for luxuries and extras herself.
“Kris has always taught the girls about the importance of financial responsibility and independence,” says a source, adding that the teen has been “cut off from extras.”
“Kris has taught all the girls that if they want something, they have to work for it. Kris made sure she paid for Kylie’s car, for medical, for housing, for food, for vacations. All the usual stuff,” the insider added.
The source explained how the rules worked:”If [Kylie] wanted to buy new clothes, she would have to save up. If they wanted extras they had to buy extras.”
