Teen Mom 2 reality star Leah Messer is in a battle for custody of her twins with Corey Simms.
On the Teen Mom 2 reunion, Leah talks to Dr. Drew Pinsky about the battle for custody of her twins.
She admits, “In court, they said I was an incompetent mother.”
She explains, “Aly had… she had missed a little bit of therapy and school. And the reason was because if my baby comes to me and she’s like, ‘Mommy, I’m hurting,’ I’m not supposed to force her because it could over-exert her. Or with therapy, she was sick. Stuff like that. It was reasonable excuses. Well, I guess somehow that makes me an incompetent mother.”
She added, “It was hard for me because I felt like I’ve done the best that I could as a mom.”
She also denies that any alleged or admitted drug use was part of the problem. “No. I was like on that medication for like a week. And actually Corey didn’t even know that I was on [it].”
Previously, a source told InTouch “A few months ago, Leah asked Corey for more money and it really pissed him off… To get back at her, [Corey] asked for full custody of Ali and Aleeah — and used her recent prescription-medication use as grounds as well.”
The source added, “[Leah] couldn’t believe that Corey would stoop so low, especially since he knows that she’s a good mom. She’s sober now. Leah was caught off guard [as she and Corey] have gotten along and co-parent their kids so well. She doesn’t understand why Corey would do something like this.”
