Insiders claimed she wasted tens of thousands of dollars intended for her daughter’s medical treatment (Ali, far left, has muscular dystrophy). The tabloids accused Leah of emptying Ali’s trust fund. Leah denied it, saying Ali’s money is safe in another account. Leah also reveals she intends to release a tell-all to get across her side of the story.
InTouch Weekly claimed earlier this week that Leah had spent $50,000 from one of her kids’ bank accounts.
An insider claimed that all the MTV money put aside for five-year-old Ali had been spent frivolously. “The account was totally drained,” the insider alleges. “The money is supposed to go to college tuition, or in Ali’s case, medical needs. But Leah took all of it.” Moreover, the source claims it was “easier” to skim off the top of her disabled child’s funds – rather than her able-bodied children – because people would assume the money had been spent on medical bills.
Ali’s father, Corey Simms, is reportedly furious. But since the divorce he cannot do anything to stop Leah taking the money. “He’s furious that Ali’s future has been wiped away and he’s seeing what he can do to get the money back,” adds the source.
“Leah has made a lot of bad decisions [financially] and is strapped for cash big time,” says the insider. “She’s selfish now. She only cares about herself.”
Days later, Leah responded to the claims. She wrote on Facebook, “I would be ashamed of myself [if I did those things] especially the article [about] me taking money from my children. The funny thing about it is… The money that was given to my kids is not in the account they’re saying it was ‘stolen’ from.”
She added, “I’m doing my best at being as nice as I can be and as PATIENT as I can be for soon it will be my time to speak to everyone and they will see… I will not need a “close source” etc or even an attorney to do it for me. I have no reason to downgrade anyone but just to speak the TRUTH rather I look bad or I don’t look bad. I would never chose to put someone down to lift myself up. I guess each to their own though and they one day will pay that price. This is honestly all I have to say to this post. I’ve never in my life could say some of the things to someone that I see and am called on social media and one day yes you too will have to pay a price for that, if that person is you. I forgive you anyways and love every single person that was given life and I wish NOTHING but the best for you and everyone in this world. Xoxo”
She finished by revealing plans for a tell-all, “Each and everyone out there will learn a lot by reading my book that will be coming when the time is right.”
Leah added on Twitter, “I can’t believe some of these pathetic individuals that hide behind the name of “a source” My girls still have they’re money….It’s just not at the bank your looking at. #Crazyy”.
She also wrote “I thought 2014 was going to turn out to be the worst year of my life, but after Dec. 8 It turned out to be the BEST by God’s GRACE & MERCY! NOW, Bring on 2015!! I love my Family!! I hope each and everyone had a Christmas full of blessings and too much food just like The Calvert Fam… Hehe Merry CHRISTmas!!”
Leah also seems to think Corey and his second wife Miranda are behind the tabloid leaks and a problematic Facebook page that’s caused drama over the past few weeks.
The couple denied running the page. However Leah told a fan “yes I do [know it’s an authentic page]. If I didn’t KNOW. THEN, TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS… I WOULD HAVE NOT SAID A THING ABOUT IT…. Corey and Miranda do not run a page its their close family that run the page that was approved by Corey and Miranda for them to run it.”
