Dean Sheremet was married to LeAnn Rimes when she had an affair with also-married actor Eddie Cibrian. LeAnn and Eddie met and started an affair on the set of Northern Lights. The affair ended both their marriages. Now, after declining to write a tell-all book, Dean has given a tell-all interview about all the dirt from the breakup.
Dean admits he and LeAnn were VERY young when they first got together, “She was 18. I was 20,” he said.
“I was a professional dancer. She was a superstar.” As such, with things being unequal, “I knew that one of us had to sacrifice something to have a healthy marriage.” So Dean gave up his career, “at the expense” of his personal life and identity, he admits. Adding, “It went so long before I even realized how much of myself I’d lost… As it went on, there were a lot of animosities that built up.”
He was involved in every aspect of LeAnn’s early career, however, “I didn’t know how to make the distinction between husband and boss, husband and partner… Unfortunately, I think the business ended up destroying us. That passion for our marriage wasn’t there.”
Dean explains, “At first. It felt like we were a team.” However, as time went on, “the team became toxic.” Moreover, LeAnn was completely dependent, says Dean, “The need for me in her life was so strong. There were things she couldn’t do without me… She had her own phone but never used it. People would call me to get to her. Everything went through me.”
LeAnn’s lifestyle in Los Angeles was so different to what Dean was used to. He explains of his discomfort with LeAnn’s material possessions like fancy cars and big houses, “I never felt comfortable with it. I’m not the type to throw money around. I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop… We would go shopping and not even look at the amount. It’s just a weird life. ”
Dean continues, he convinced LeAnn to pursue her acting dream and star in Northern Lights. Dean initially dismissed LeAnn’s Northern Lights co-star Eddie as a “good-looking poser”, adding “I wasn’t worried [about him].”
However, that changed when the pair flirted openly and made it VERY obvious to everyone on set they were having an affair (Brandi Glanville said the same).
Dean recalls realising LeAnn and Eddie were cheating together: “I’ll never forget this, there was this bar that everyone hung out at after set and I remember coming down the stairs and seeing the two of them shooting pool together. I could just tell by the body language that everything had changed… She’s shooting pool, shooting tequila, in a tight tank, tight jeans, over the knee boots and she’s standing across from him, playing with the pool cue. All of a sudden, there was a huge shift.”
How did he feel? “My stomach dropped. I literally felt like I got hit.” What did he say or do? “I walked up to her and was like, ‘It’s time to go!’ I don’t remember it being some big fight but the tension was there.”
He knew there was nothing he could do to stop the affair. Although he felt embarrassed and “foolish”.
How did he call her out? He recalls, “It was really emotional… I was talking to Leann on the phone and said, ‘I think you need to take off your wedding ring. If you’re not going to respect what it stands for, you have no right to wear it.’ She freaked out but I think, in my mind, I was done.”
He admits of the hardest part of being cheated on, “The cheating wasn’t the hardest part. The hardest part was someone standing in the back of the bus in the middle of nowhere and saying, “I don’t love you anymore.” I would’ve rather she said, ‘I slept with twenty guys!'”
