Natalia Kills and husband Willy Moon went viral this weekend when they berated a contestant on X Factor New Zealand because the singer wore a suit.
The (former) judges went on… and on… about how the contestant was copying Willy’s style (by wearing a suit and a side part in his hair) so they name-called and degraded him back and forth for several minutes.
The pair were fired within 48-hours and top execs at the network that broadcasts the show called out the couple as bullies (as did co-judge, former British girl band singer, Melanie Blatt). After being fired, Natalia and Willy left New Zealand and were quickly replaced on the show by former Neighbours actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte and drummer Shelton Woolright.
Natalia was defiant 24-hours ago, thanking fans for their support and insisting she’s misunderstood and passionate. Today, she’s offering an explanation/ sort-of apology/ asking for forgiveness.
She tweeted the caption “At last! I am relieved that I’m finally able to break the silence… xoxo” along with this message:
“A lot goes on behind the scenes of a reality TV show and you see isn’t always the whole story. The show brought me on to bring my passion, dramatic expression and perspective. I was encouraged to be outspoken and things got out of hand. Joe. I hope you can forgive me and I wish you all the best! Be natural, unconventional and be you!”
In another statement, Natalia’s husband, Willy, wrote:
“The reality of ‘reality’ TV is that there’s a lot the viewers don’t see.The show encourages judges to be forthright and highly opinionated. It went too far and I never intended to single anyone out. I wish the contestants, crew, and particularly Joe, all the best.”
