Earlier today, a video went viral in which a 20-something Ohio State Football fan was captured on camera at one of their games.
Brought up on the monitors with a young man sat next to her, the woman quicky and awkwardly shifted away from the guy. As in she didn’t want to be seen stroking the back of his neck as she had been moments before. Or flirting. Or touching him. Or seen with him in general. She looked guilty and like she had something to hide. And there was video of it.
In absence of any facts, people leapt to assumptions about the girl’s situation. Mostly gleaning that if she was flirty but didn’t want people to know she was dating the guy… she must be cheating on her actual boyfriend. And that she got caught with her man-on-the-side.
It’s a few hours since the video went viral online. One version on YouTube was simply labelled “Cheating”.
But now some people claiming to know the girl in real life have come to her defense. Insisting that she is NOT cheating. That is her boyfriend. And the couple has been together at least a little while. So no one is cheating on anyone.
One Ohio native sent the below screen shot to Gawker of a friend’s Facebook post that read: “My cousin… and her boyfriend… made their TV [debut] as well as on Vine.”
And here’s another screencap of a Facebook thread: “That’s a friend of mine that I teach with her name is [blank].” Adding “I think it’s her boyfriend.. so funny! She’s such a sweet girl. Had to have been taken totally off-guard. And now she’s Internet famous.”
