OK! Magazine has issued an apology and a retraction over claims they made about Katy Perry’s personal life.
The cover claimed, “(Her bump Feb 7) John & Katy shocker. Katy’s pregnant. Planning a spring wedding. John, ‘I’m a changed man’.”
The couple has since split up for a fourth time. However, at the time of reporting in February, OK! claimed, John “wants to start a family… [They may] be getting married in April, too, in her hometown of Santa Barbara!”
Katy’s friend’s allegedly noticed “her burgeoning baby bump [at an event in February].”
The source claimed, “The buzz in her close group of friends is that she’s two months pregnant. The news was a shock to everyone, but Katy and John are absolutely ecstatic!”
At the time, sources in Katy’s camp denied the claims. Telling the Daily Mail: “Katy is not pregnant. She can’t even think about getting pregnant right now. She is in the middle of her world tour.”
And now, a month later, OK! has admitted on social media the story was a lie!
In the March 2, 2015 print edition of OK! Magazine, we wrongly stated that Katy Perry was pregnant, and that she was planning a wedding.
We acknowledge that Ms. Perry is not pregnant, and she is not planning a wedding.
We regret the mistake and sincerely apologize to Ms. Perry for publishing the error. We also apologize for including paparazzi photos of Ms. Perry that had been taken with a long lens while she was having a private function at her home. [via Facebook]
UPDATE: Katy re-tweeted the entire message and also reacted on Twitter.
REMEMBER these magazines are fiction designed for entertainment. NO ONE speaks for me. Instead let the previous tweets speak for themselves.
