Paris Hilton has, once again, admitted that The Simple Life was staged.
She revealed, she played a dumb blonde character but she’s really a savvy business woman. She also said it’s “nice” that she inspired old friend Kim Kardashian to do reality TV.
“I was playing a character on The Simple Life, so I don’t blame people for thinking I was ditzy,” she said of appearing on The Simple Life from 2003-2007. “People assumed that’s who I really was. Now they meet me and realize I’m completely different.”
Paris has 18 perfumes that have generated over $2 billion in revenue. She has 56 branded “Paris Hilton” stores in the Middle East and Asia that sell her range of purses. She earns at least $30,000 per hour as a DJ. And she had many other ventures. “I’ve always known what I was capable of,” she tells DuJour (via E! Online). Although, she won’t be more specific as, “My mother always told me it’s not polite to discuss money.”
“But it doesn’t bother me that people thought I was dumb,” she insists of being on reality television. “Playing that character made life easier—I do have a certain amount of shyness, which I’m sure is a surprise to people. And I’ve never cared what people think about me—I know the truth.”
Paris says she’s mostly bored of clubbing, “I like to see girls looking hot and having fun—that’s what life’s about. But I’m kinda over the whole scene. I used to love going out all the time but now it’s only for DJ’ing and getting paid.”
Paris also talks about childhood friend Kim Kardashian, who was a wardrobe assistant to Paris. “We’ve known each other since we were little girls,” says the heiress. “We’ve always been friends.”
Kim’s show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, started in 2007, the same year The Simple Life ended. Paris continues… “It’s nice to inspire people. So yeah. I’m really proud of her and what she’s done though.”
Paris insisted, there were no hard feelings that Kim became so famous. “I saw her like a few weeks ago in New York. And we were hanging out.” And Paris is happy for Kim, “She’s so cute. She’s always wanted to have a family [too], so I’m really happy for her.”
