More information has been released about what happened between Teen Mom 2’s Jenelle Evans and Nathan Griffith on Wednesday that led to his arrest.
According to the initial reports, police were called twice in one day because of the on-off couple’s arguing. The police report from Nathan’s arrest Wednesday afternoon for domestic violence suggested the couple fought over Jenelle’s engagement ring. Nathan allegedly held Jenelle against a toilet and wrestled the ring off her hand with such force he cut her finger (Nathan insists Jenelle is the violent one and he needs protection from her).
Further reports specify that the couple also fought over Nathan’s alleged cheating. Jenelle left the home to stay at a hotel overnight and when she returned to pack some things for school, Nathan locked the door behind her and turned off her MTV mic. He also locked out the MTV crew who had been filming that day. So they did not capture the fight; only Nathan’s arrest moments later when the crew and neighbours heard Jenelle scream and called the police.
“The MTV camera crew was outside the house, because when Jenelle arrived, Nathan locked the door behind her and shut off her microphone,” explained a source, adding that Jenelle pocked-dialled the crew. “Jenelle was screaming ‘Get off of me, get off, get off,’ but they couldn’t do anything, because they door was locked. That is when someone from MTV and one of her neighbors called the police.”
The couple’s neighbour, James Hopkins, “Meteorologist for CBS 13 Myrtle Beach, SC” according to his Instagram, witnessed the arrested and posted it to Instagram calling it staged: “So ‘Teen Mom’ star’s fiancé was arrested yesterday,” he captioned the above photo. “I took this pic while my daughter was out riding her bike. They’re my neighbors but probably not for long. #teenmom2 #drama #staged”.
He told one commenter, “the cops have been there a few times but this is the first arrest”. Then RadarOnline reached out to him on Instagram writing “James can we chat about your new neighbor?? I’m with RadarOnline can you send me your email?”
James told Radar, “I heard him talking to what seemed to be a camera guy when he got arrested asking him to tell the cops that he didn’t do it. He said ‘Come on man tell them I didn’t touch her. I didn’t do anything. You know man I didn’t do anything… I never touched her.’”
Jenelle now has a PR Twitter page through which she releases statements. Her latest statement said: “Jenelle is focusing on her children and school work right now! She appreciates all the support from her fans!”
After Teen Mom 3’s Katie Yeager tweeted “It’s girls who play the victim that make us actual victims look like crazy liars.” Jenelle responded directly “@Katiebyeager funny thing is I never said he hurt me, never said he hit me. The police took over, I never called. Mind ur own business.”
