“They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship,” his rep told PEOPLE. However, now sources are talking about what really happened in the turbulent relationship.
Sources tell Page Six, the engagement ended due to concerns over the prenup.
A source reveals, “Nicole was unwilling to sign a prenup, even though Michael has consistently been very generous to her.”
Michael supported Nicole financially when she decided to sue Troy David Stratos for $7 million in 2010, after Troy persuaded Nicole to invest all her money overseas. Troy is currently in custody on assorted fraud and money laundering charges.
The source added, “She gave Stratos all the money from her divorce with Eddie Murphy. Michael helped her out financially, but she still wouldn’t sign a prenup.”
Previously, it was reported that the couple also had issues with infidelity. TMZ reports, the final straw for Nicole was Michael’s alleged affair with another woman back in July.
The split was confirmed the day of Michael’s entry into the NFL Hall of Fame because, sources say, that was the same day Nicole found “proof” of Michael’s alleged mistress.
