Bethenny’s talk show was cancelled and her divorce drama is turning off fans. And now, according to a new report, the brand she started has distanced itself in an effort to halt plummeting sales.
Beam purchased the Skinnygirl Cocktails brand in 2011 for an undisclosed amount (Bethenny allegedly lied about her net worth and the brand’s worth and made it on the Forbes rich list as a result).
The new owner wanted the brand at the time for its “strong consumer equity and momentum, particularly among women.” However, it’s three years later and sales are down. Last year, the low-calorie alcohol brand lost 26% of its sales.
As such, the company is putting some distance between itself and Bethenny.
“After her ugly divorce she is no longer liked. She has become toxic and the brand wants to get away from her,” claims an insider.
The source added, “Last year SKINNYGIRL was the worst performer of the company’s spirits, which saw sales increase 2% overall. No one likes her anymore.”
