The Real Housewives of New York City reunion taping has caused speculation the show is about to be cancelled.
The series has been under fire for weeks, with series regulars deigning to go from “friend” to main cast member and back again as producers struggled to find a formula that worked. It was nearly cancelled last season although it’s made it all the way to the reunion this season. However, the reunion was so “boring” producers didn’t get any footage worth airing.
“The taping was beyond boring,” a source claimed of the June 13 recording. “Yes, everyone showed up and there were tears and fights, but not about anything that mattered at all. There just wasn’t enough going on in the season to make a reunion anything special.”
Cast members include Ramona Singer, Aviva Drescher, Carole Radziwill, Kristen Taekman, Sonja Morgan, LuAnn de Lesseps and Heather Thomson who all failed to bring the ratings or the drama this season.
The source continued, “The show was ridiculous. Andy [Cohen] tried everything he could to get the ladies to be interesting, but they’ve run out of story lines. It was completely drama free.”
“The Real Housewives of New York City is just a failing franchise now,” the source added. “The ratings are a bust and the women aren’t doing anything to help the show. Ramona had a lot of interesting things happening in her personal life but she made sure it didn’t make the show. Carole and Aviva tried to have a storyline, but even Aviva’s show absences didn’t help the ratings. There isn’t anything compelling with these women now.”
