It’s been over a week since video leaked of Solange Knowles attacking her brother-in-law, Jay Z, in an elevator during the Met gala.
“[The tape] was being shopped for five days to the highest bidder,” claimed a source of the video that ended up on TMZ.com, confirming the tape sold for $250,000. “There are only a handful of people who’d have access to that tape. The Standard owns that tape. But once it was out, Jay Z’s people felt they couldn’t control it. They were reluctant to try and publicly fight this.”
Although the family is keeping quiet, sources are talking about why Solange was so violent. According to some sources, Solange is just poorly behaved and lashes out violently often enough that it’s no longer shocking.
Today, sources tell Page Six that Solange was “crazy drunk and out of it” at the event. “Clearly she was on something at the party, she was drunk and out of it. The girl is crazy and prone to outbursts. She got in the elevator with Jay and Bey. He had made a comment that she didn’t like, and she just snapped.”
Another source added, “She was the girl who drank too much and was behaving badly at the party.”
Both Page Six and The Daily Mail suggest Solange’s career is another reason; that she has struggled to remain popular since she left Roc Nation and started her own label, Saint Records. “She used to be on [Jay Z’s] label [Roc Nation], but now she isn’t. And she moved to New Orleans from Brooklyn with her son. Solange still spends a lot of time in New York, but she is further away from her family, which has created some issues.”
