South Park featured character Randy Marsh dressed as singer Lorde, earlier this month, for the entertainment at a kids’ party.
In the next episode, they joked that Randy had been moonlighting as Lorde this whole time and released a song called “Push (Ya Ya Ya)”. The story line mocked Spin Magazine for their (admittedly) inaccurate coverage of the show.
The episode vocals were sung by singer-songwriter Sia (whose music video for Chandelier starring Dance Moms’ Maddie Ziegler has been viewed over 240 million times).
Lorde even did her own joking version during an interview with TV3 New Zealand’s David Farrier.
Lorde later admitted, “I was thinking, ‘Yeah he has a moustache… I mean I have a moustache, but is it that prominent?’ But it was someone’s dad pretending to be me. We actually, in my hotel room, went ‘Ya ya ya ya ya I’m Lorde! Ya ya ya!’ for like an hour, because that’s why they do on the episode.”
South Park Studios made the song available for download on their old website. You could get the MP3 direct from Comedy Central (link removed, file no longer available).
