Apollo was recently sentenced to eight years in prison for fraud and money laundering. He has also been ordered to pay $1.9 million restitution to his victims.
“I’ve asked God to forgive me,” he tells Atlanta’s B-100, adding “I’ve forgiven myself. I had to move on.”
He adds of Phaedra’s telling absence from his sentencing, “I mean, my wife didn’t even f**king show up for my sentencing. So, you know, I mean, I’m still kind of salty about that. But, you know, whatever.”
So why haven’t one or both already filed for divorce? “If they never started a family, she would have filed for divorce long ago, but this is going to push Phaedra to act quickly,” a source tells In Touch Weekly.
Previously, Apollo admitted “If something doesn’t change and we don’t start to cherish and respect one another, then I refuse to be miserable, hands down.” Explaining that they were working on the problems in their marriage.
Co-star Kandi Burruss says, however, Phaedra is “not really trying to focus on Apollo” right now.
The estranged couple have two minor sons together. They married in 2009, mere months after Apollo’s release following a six years prison sentence for car theft (one of many petty crimes committed in his 20s).
