Teen Mom 2’s Jenelle Evans got into some trouble this weekend when she shared video of what appeared to be another alleged act of animal cruelty/endangerment.
After a backlash from fans on social media, Jenelle pulled the video and said she’d never bother to post about her dog again. Today, however, she is defiant and allegedly threatened to put the dog in danger with another stunt next year.
Jenelle shared a video over the holiday weekend of her dog, Jax, playing with a lit firecracker. Here’s a copy of the clip:
In the video (re-uploaded to Twitter and then deleted and seemingly sold to TMZ), there is a firecracker on the floor which her dog tries to grab with its mouth. Several times. Which could have led to burns or worse.
Jenelle doesn’t seem worried. Here’s the timeline of alleged abuses:
- 2014 Last July, animal control were called on Jenelle for leaving her dogs out in a storm. PETA expressed their concern at the time.
- 2015 This July, Jenelle filmed and shared footage of herself possibly putting her dog’s safety in danger again.
- 2016 Moreover, she seems to threaten to make it three years running… and do something similar with the dog again next July.
In case you cannot watch the video of Jenelle explaining, she says:
You know, everyone thinks that I lit the firework and my dog put it in its mouth. Or I told him to go fetch it. But, honestly, me and Jace were in the backyard, lighting our fireworks…
Before I took that video, I kept telling the dog “Get away! Get away!”… because he kept knocking the firework over with his nose and messing it up for Jace.
So I mean, all in all, the dog didn’t get hurt. Everything was fine. I didn’t tell him to go fetch it. I was, like, “Are you ready? Are you ready?”
We just thought it was funny that he kept trying to attack it [no matter] how many times I tried to ask him to stop.
Asked why light it when she knew the dog would attack it, again, basically making it a deliberate act, she replied:
Why go camping, and take the dog with you when there’s a camp fire? Why do people do that?
Jenelle insisted that, per a re-tweet of America’s Funniest Home Videos, it’s “funny” when dogs do something like this:
I’m sorry people are offended.
And I’m sorry anything I do is going to be such a big deal to everyone because I’m on TV. If I wasn’t on TV, you guys wouldn’t give a s**t right now.
People are… they have been trying to attack me for years. They even told everyone, the police [have come over] 3 times about the [dogs and the] firework and she… won’t even answer the door.
Truth is, nobody came to my house. Me and Nathan were sitting there watching a movie, I was sitting there with Kaiser all night.
As soon as I do one little thing that looks wrong… they try to put me on blast.
Not related, but still noteworthy, here is a firework safety video from a few days ago warning of the dangers of playing around with live pyrotechnics (warning: graphic).
