Former Glee actor Mark Salling has been arrested on possession of child exploitation images.
Mark played “Puck” on the kids’ musical created by Ryan Murphy. Mark often shared scenes with the late Cory Monteith. News broke yesterday that Mark was arrested. Today more information has been released.
According to Crime Watch Daily (via TMZ), the LAPD Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force got and served a warrant for Mark’s arrest on the morning of Tuesday 29 December.
The police received a tip from Salling’s ex-girlfriend. They investigated to be sure it wasn’t a claim made out of spite.
Police were reportedly “100%” confident they would find the illegal content after speaking to Mark’s ex. In addition to other evidence.
The initial search of Mark’s Sunland home (where he lives alone) turned up “hundreds of images” of minors being exploited. This has now been update to be “more than a thousand images”. Police are still searching Mark’s cell phones, tablets and laptop. They may find more content.
Mark was reportedly “shocked” when police arrived. He quickly got a lawyer. He was sent to jail and his family bailed him out (bail was set at $20,000, the family paid $2,000).
TMZ initially reported the minors in the images were “significantly younger than 15 and 16 year olds”. This has been clarified to be “images involve girls under 10 engaging in sexual activities”.
